Accessibility at Dal

Cultivating positive experiences for all of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors is essential to achieving our mission. That鈥檚 why it鈥檚 so important that our campuses, classrooms, and offices are barrier-free and that accommodations are available for all who need them.

Accessibility plan

Our Accessibility Plan includes initiatives to improve accessibility in the built environment; teaching, learning, and research; goods and services; information and communication; transportation; and employment. We are committed to the work required to achieve this goal for our community.

Student accessibility

The Student Accessibility Centre (Halifax) and the Student Success Centre (Truro)聽 are Dalhousie鈥檚 centres of expertise on student access, inclusion, and accommodation support.

Accessible employment

Within Dalhousie鈥檚 Human Resources, a dedicated Accessible Employment team administers the University鈥檚 Employment Accommodation Policy to provide a workplace that supports full participation and engagement. Accessible Employment also administers provisions of the University鈥檚 sick leave benefits, which include short-term sick leave for illness/injury, long-term disability benefits, and return to work planning, as well as education and outreach to the broad Dalhousie community.
