In what is quickly becoming an annual tradition, readers of The Coast, Halifax鈥檚 weekly, have named Dalhousie the city鈥檚 best university.

In fact, Dalhousie has won the award every year in the publication鈥檚 readers鈥 choice awards since the Best University category was revived in 2012. (Dalhousie also won the award the first time it was included in 2005.)

More than 12,000 people voted in The Coast's annual readers鈥 roll, which includes more than 300 different categories spanning food and drink, arts and culture, and city life. Dalhousie was awarded gold in the 鈥淏est University鈥 category 鈥 a result that speaks to Dal鈥檚 broad reach and significant impact across Halifax and beyond.

There were several other Dal successes in The Coast鈥檚 readers鈥 choice awards this year:

  • The Student Union Building鈥檚 popular 鈥淧ete鈥檚 ToGoGo鈥 outlet took home the gold prize for 鈥淏est Campus Eats.鈥澛 And levied student society the Loaded Ladle, which serves free, locally produced meals out of the SUB three times a week, won bronze.
  • The T-Room, the Dal Student Union鈥檚 Sexton Campus pub, once again placed in the 鈥淏est Trivia Night鈥 category for its popular Friday night showdowns, winning bronze.
  • For 鈥淏est Effort to Improve Halifax,鈥 the gold prize went to 鈥渂ike lanes,鈥 with the University Avenue pilot project getting special mention.
