If you鈥檙e a Dal Health alum, chances are you鈥檝e met Andrew Pelrine. Pelrine works in the Dean鈥檚 Office in the Faculty of Health, working with our many Schools and academic units to engage with their alumni whether with events, feature stories or reunions.

Stress and academia, two words which unfortunately seem intertwined within post-secondary institutions, making it difficult at times to know where one鈥檚 work and non-work lives begin and end. Let鈥檚 face it, the pandemic has not made it easier to disconnect from work.

We are so pleased to announce that Dr. Terrence Lewis has accepted the inaugural position of Associate Dean, Equity and Inclusion, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Health for a term commencing from June 1, 2024, to June 30, 2029.

As Manager of e-Learning, Terris Klaus oversees the SSW鈥檚 Bachelor鈥檚 of Social Work (BSW) and Master鈥檚 of Social Work (MSW) Distance Education programs. Some of her main responsibilities include working with professors to develop skills and confidence to teach in an online environment, assisting students and professors with Distance Education program-related concerns, and staying current in contemporary developments in e-Learning including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies. Terris Klaus appreciates the variety of duties that shape her role.

After an extensive educational career at Dalhousie, nurse scientist Keisha Jefferies (BScN鈥�13, MN鈥�17, Ph.D. Nursing鈥�22) is back on campus 鈥� but this time at the start of her career as a professor. In addition to her assistant professorship, Dr. Jefferies was also recently named one of Dalhousie鈥檚 inaugural University Research Chairs 鈥� Emerging Scholar for her critical research focused on population health and equity and inclusivity in nursing. The Emerging Scholar Research Chair targets 鈥渆arly career academics who have demonstrated research excellence and the potential for international recognition in the next five to ten years."

From starting a Masters of Health Education with the School of Health and Human Performance in 1987, to helping lead the Faculty through a global pandemic in 2020 鈥� Suzie Officer has seen it all.
